Review: Wintr's Homecoming: Secrets

Image
Wintr's Homecoming: Secrets by Jen A. Durand My rating: 3 of 5 stars Got this in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this immensely. First off, Jinx is me. A mouthy, opinionated, brat that hates the world and everything in it, but will protect the ones I love. I was drawn to her immediately. She was hilarious and her banter with all the other characters were great. I didn't connect with her other two friends, so Nicole and Livia didn't intrigue me, but I am interested in her story with Sei. Anyways, this book has everything. It started out as a normal romantic comedy where I thought Nicole was the subject of this story, but all that changed when Jinx and Livia had to meet Nicole's fiance. Then the story took a turn with magic, werewolves, vampires and experiments to steal their power and I was just like hold up!!!!! IT'S A PARANORMAL STORY!!! That made me enjoy it even more. We then meet Dominic who knew Jinx from the time sh...

Review: The Thing About Love

Image
The Thing About Love by Julie James My rating: 3 of 5 stars True to Julie James fashion, this was a cute and funny book. Jessica and John met six years ago at the academy and they hated each other. They had this rivalry going which caused a rift between them. He was the jock, she was the academic. Years later they end up doing the same undercover op and sparks began to fly with them. They finally realized through all that hate, is a love brewing between them. It doesn't hurt either that they have hot, steamy sex. I enjoyed the banter between these two. I love that Julie's heroines are always strong, sassy and don't take crap from the leading men. I instantly liked John because of his down to earth demeanor. Jessica held her own too in this story and was very likable from the get go. This story also has that little action sequence to remind us that yea, you're still reading a FBI book. Great read if you like, quirky romance, strong wom...

Review: The Unyielding

The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston My rating: 5 of 5 stars Okay, whatever the hell Shelly is on, I need a hit of that. That woman is seriously insane and it comes out in her awesome books. You cannot read a Shelly Laurenston book and get bored. One does not read the first chapter of her books and then skim the rest of the books. YOU HAVE TO READ THEM. Her books are just laugh out loud funny and crazy. Shelly engages you with all of the characters. Yes sometimes you get lost and go "What the fuck?" but then you keep reading and go "Oh okay" Every crazy thing she writes is connected. Half the time you even forget it's a romance book you are reading, because you are more invested in the action, adventure, gore and bloody good time everyone is having to to be really invested in the couple. So this book picked up where Jace and Ski left off. This one now involved Steig and Erin, which shocked the hell out of me because I seriously...
