Review: Black Sheep
Black Sheep by Zara Cox
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Hmm, I have a love hate relationship with this book. The love part: Okay so Axel was briefly mentioned in Quinn's book. I enjoyed him immensely, his obsession was wasted, but it was described perfectly. He was the good son, the black sheep of this fucked up family. I loved the plot, the sex, the intrigued, even the villain` was written well. The author made me feel the hate, I could understand where Axel was coming from. The story flowed and it kept you engrossed because I finished this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down even if I tried. The hate part: I hated the heroine with every fiber of my being. Cleo was the worst damn person in the world and it sickened me that Axel wasted his time with this bitch. This story also shows you how miscommunication and not picking up the fucking phone to ask a question, ruins a relationship. Cleo had multiple times to talk to Axel, to explain and let him explain his side also, but all you got from her when she was around Axel was "Uh, umm...oh god Axel" That was the extent of her vocabulary until the end, that is. The father, man was he an evil son of a bitch? That's your son, Jesus, with a father like that, Axel didn't need any enemies, but I was hoping Axel would have killed him with his bare hands, but alas......Another reason I hated Cleo, HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BE IN LOVE WITH AXEL BUT THEN TURN AND RUN INTO HIS FATHER'S BED??!!! Blackmail or not, run girl!!!From THAT point when she said the father forced himself on her, that should have been her reason to run to Axel, honestly she should have run and gone into hiding instead of subjugating herself to 8 years of that torture. Again I ask, why didn't the author let Axel kill that POS!!! I also hated how the ending felt so rushed. Just like with Quinn's book, it's like the author got tired and just wanted to wrap things up. Axel should have made her BEG!!! But no. That reconciliation was too easy. Anyways, if you like gritty dark romances, then cop this series....but only if you have the stomach for it because this one sticks with you. It leaves you with some very conflicting feelings and that's when you know the author did a great job. Thanks Zara.
