Review: Her Destiny

Image
Her Destiny by Monica Murphy My rating: 3 of 5 stars Eh, this was a bad as the first. This was more from Reverie's point of view and oh my god was she whiny. There was simply no character development with her. Her brother though had some. He went from the entitled asshole, to the best big brother finally giving a shit about Rev. The writer destroyed Nick for me in this one. I liked him in the first one, but here she made him a complete love sick wuss. This conclusion was unrealistic AF!!! So it picks up months after the murder, they still haven't found the culprit. Everyone is looking at Nick for obvious reasons. Rev was his alibi, but the dumbass refused to use her so he wouldn't ruin her reputation. All I'm thinking is did this dumbass not watch the news? It's already ruined. Her parents are frauds!!! Anyways, they do this whole tug of war, I love you, I love you not, you're bad for me bla bla bla. Then there is this random...

Review: So I Married a Sorcerer

Image
So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks My rating: 5 of 5 stars Okay, so Ms. Sparks had me all up in my feels with this one. This story was a mixture of Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Avatar: The Last Air-bender and I LOVED IT!!!! So this was Bridgitta's story. She's another one of the adopted Embraced sisters. Her power is to find hidden things when she touches someone. It was her turn to meet her talk, dark and handsome stranger. And what she got was Ang the last Air-bender aka Rupert the Wind Sorcerer. This man can bend air like the rest of them. So I don't want to spoil it so I'll just do a run through. They meet under unusual circumstances, then it gets all Robin Hood: Men in Tights where there's this competition to win Bridgitta's....erm...."hand" in marriage, shape shifters, dragons, fighting, redemption and finding the rightful heir to the throne. This story was so exciting with a bunch of heartwarming mome...

Review: Black Sheep

Image
Black Sheep by Zara Cox My rating: 3 of 5 stars Hmm, I have a love hate relationship with this book. The love part: Okay so Axel was briefly mentioned in Quinn's book. I enjoyed him immensely, his obsession was wasted, but it was described perfectly. He was the good son, the black sheep of this fucked up family. I loved the plot, the sex, the intrigued, even the villain` was written well. The author made me feel the hate, I could understand where Axel was coming from. The story flowed and it kept you engrossed because I finished this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down even if I tried. The hate part: I hated the heroine with every fiber of my being. Cleo was the worst damn person in the world and it sickened me that Axel wasted his time with this bitch. This story also shows you how miscommunication and not picking up the fucking phone to ask a question, ruins a relationship. Cleo had multiple times to talk to Axel, to explain and let...

Review: Commander in Chief

Image
Commander in Chief by Katy Evans My rating: 3 of 5 stars Nice ending to a sweet series. Skimmed it a lot because...politics, but I did enjoy the parts with Char and Matt. Fun and sexy read. Man, must be nice to be the President, these two were at it all over the Oval Office. LOL I feel like this is how the Obamas were and I'm here for it. View all my reviews

Review: Mr. President

Image
Mr. President by Katy Evans My rating: 4 of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book. It was HOT HOT HOT!!!! I liked the two main characters, Matt and Charlotte. The whole politics plot bored me to tears, so I just skipped over them, but man the love story between these two sucked me in. I need to see how this ends. View all my reviews

Review: Slow Play

Image
Slow Play by Monica Murphy My rating: 4 of 5 stars Argh, fuck off Tristan for making me like you. He was still the ultimate asshole, but he was a sweet asshole. We remember Tristan, the annoying assholes from the other books, the ultimate whore? Well yea, he found his girl and boy did he had to up those guys in the love department. This was a really great book. It literally read like an episode of Sex in the City. There were some "awww" moments that were so sweet, I caught the diabeetus!!! I immediately loved Alex, she and Kellie are my favorites in this series. Great humor, hot and steamy love scenes and a sappy, sweet HEA. Aww, all the boys are finally grown and with the women they love. I'm going to miss these assholes. View all my reviews

Review: In the Dark

Image
In the Dark by Monica Murphy My rating: 3 of 5 stars I enjoyed Gabe's story. It wasn't as interesting as Shep's because this one basically read like Shep's but this time pregnancy was involved. I liked Lucy, but her lies were stupid and she could have owned up at the end of the summer. Gabe is funny, thoughtful and he finally kicked his manwhoring, childish ways. Lucy was okay, but her insecurities got on my nerves. Tristian is an asshole and I'm contemplating if to read his story, since I don't really care about him. This book was sexier than the first, I'll give it that, but it just felt like an after thought (i.e) Eh since Shep got a book I might as well do Gabe type of feel. But yea, it's Shpe's with name changes and a different plot device to cause conflict. I have to say though, the angst in these books is minimal. Conflicts are solved just like that instead of dragging it out for half the story to the point...

Review: Fair Game

Image
Fair Game by Monica Murphy My rating: 5 of 5 stars After reading Drew and Fable years ago, I needed another fix because I was missing Drew something terrible. I came across this little gem of a story. It's like the watered down version of Drew and Fable. But I liked Jade better than Fable. This story was great. Shepherd the resident rich, man whore, won Jade in a bet. How she took it? She smacked the shit out of that handsome devil. BUT Shepherd didn't care. He wanted his fiery red head to pay up. This was a slow build up kind of romance. From enemies to lovers I might add. But when Shep fell, he fell hard. It was as if he became obsessed with Jade. Thank god it was written in a sexy way or home girl should have ran. Anyways, the sex scenes were hot, it had its funny moments and I enjoyed the banter between her and Shep. Jade is sarcasstic, strong willed and my type of girl. She didn't give two shits that Shep was filthy rich. This book ...

Review: How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days

Image
How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days by Kerrelyn Sparks My rating: 5 of 5 stars So we all remember Kerrelyn Sparks, the writer of the Love At Stake series? You, know, with the vampires? Well this is her new series. The Embraced. This one is with magic, shifters, fey, etc etc. This new world is magical and it's set way back when where the people still bathe out of tubs where you fill it using water buckets and still had a lady in waiting. But yet it has this modern feel where it didn't read as an old timey, historical romance which was interesting to me because I despise historical romances. Anyways I'm rambling, so we meet Luciana, who is an Embraced, i.e, she was born with some sort of magical aspect. Hers is that she can talk to the dead. She was raised as an orphan on this little Isle where her and a bunch of other girls reside thinking that they had no family. Luciana later finds out she does have a family and in fact a twin. Then enter ...

Review: All You Need

Image
All You Need by Lorelei James My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was the bomb diggity. Lorelei James can do no wrong in my eyes. Annika and Axl were the perfect couple. Their book was like a fairy tale. Let me tell you there was no angst in this story. They worked out their shit and it kept moving. It was funny, sexy, steamy, EVERYTHING. The story line kept going and there wasn't a dull moment in this story. The characters are so relate-able that it felt like you were reading about real people. So you remember Annika from Walker's book, she's like the oldest girl child of the bunch. At the end of Walker's book and she came in contact with Ax-hole, I immediately wanted to read their book. I knew these two would burn up the pages. Anyways, she was forced to be his PR/Translator agent by her crazy Mom, and in return she got to help her brother Jensen land a new agent. This was an enemies turned friends, turned lovers type of story. The se...

Review: Shade's Lady

Image
Shade's Lady by Joanna Wylde My rating: 4 of 5 stars Awww, I really enjoyed this one. I don't remember Shade though, from the other books so I was kind of lost on that. I was hoping we got a glimpse of how the others were doing...but...bah! Anyways, I liked Shade instantly. Mandy was annoying as fuck from the beginning of this book, but then she started growing on me. Her need to man hate and don't ask for help annoyed the ever loving mind out of me, but her inner dialogue with Wonder Woman kept me entertained. This was a sexy read and everyone got their happy ending. It wasn't as dark as the others and not much action really happened in it either besides Randy and Rebel, but eh. I hope there's more to this series. View all my reviews

Review: Branna

Image
Branna by L.A. Casey My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was great So great that I devoured it in one sitting. It was the cutest and I'm glad we finally get a Slater book where nobody was kidnapped. This picked up a few months after Branna was kidnapped. She and Ryder finally get their honeymoon. A mishap happens which resulted in some surprsing news about Branna's pregnancy. I won't ruin it for anyone, but man was this book worth the wait. I enjoyed catching up with the other brothers and their girls. The ending was great too because I want Allanah and Damien more than ever now. That bombshell that she dropped on him, holy cow. Shit is about to hit the fan. This story was short and so much fun. Bee and Dom and still savage as ever and Alec is still his sexy self. I NEED MORE!!! View all my reviews

Review: Wintr's Homecoming: Secrets

Image
Wintr's Homecoming: Secrets by Jen A. Durand My rating: 3 of 5 stars Got this in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this immensely. First off, Jinx is me. A mouthy, opinionated, brat that hates the world and everything in it, but will protect the ones I love. I was drawn to her immediately. She was hilarious and her banter with all the other characters were great. I didn't connect with her other two friends, so Nicole and Livia didn't intrigue me, but I am interested in her story with Sei. Anyways, this book has everything. It started out as a normal romantic comedy where I thought Nicole was the subject of this story, but all that changed when Jinx and Livia had to meet Nicole's fiance. Then the story took a turn with magic, werewolves, vampires and experiments to steal their power and I was just like hold up!!!!! IT'S A PARANORMAL STORY!!! That made me enjoy it even more. We then meet Dominic who knew Jinx from the time sh...

Review: The Thing About Love

Image
The Thing About Love by Julie James My rating: 3 of 5 stars True to Julie James fashion, this was a cute and funny book. Jessica and John met six years ago at the academy and they hated each other. They had this rivalry going which caused a rift between them. He was the jock, she was the academic. Years later they end up doing the same undercover op and sparks began to fly with them. They finally realized through all that hate, is a love brewing between them. It doesn't hurt either that they have hot, steamy sex. I enjoyed the banter between these two. I love that Julie's heroines are always strong, sassy and don't take crap from the leading men. I instantly liked John because of his down to earth demeanor. Jessica held her own too in this story and was very likable from the get go. This story also has that little action sequence to remind us that yea, you're still reading a FBI book. Great read if you like, quirky romance, strong wom...

Review: The Unyielding

Image
The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston My rating: 5 of 5 stars Okay, whatever the hell Shelly is on, I need a hit of that. That woman is seriously insane and it comes out in her awesome books. You cannot read a Shelly Laurenston book and get bored. One does not read the first chapter of her books and then skim the rest of the books. YOU HAVE TO READ THEM. Her books are just laugh out loud funny and crazy. Shelly engages you with all of the characters. Yes sometimes you get lost and go "What the fuck?" but then you keep reading and go "Oh okay" Every crazy thing she writes is connected. Half the time you even forget it's a romance book you are reading, because you are more invested in the action, adventure, gore and bloody good time everyone is having to to be really invested in the couple. So this book picked up where Jace and Ski left off. This one now involved Steig and Erin, which shocked the hell out of me because I seriously...

Review: Caught

Image
Caught by Jo Raven My rating: 4 of 5 stars Now reading this, I understand where Layla is coming from. Storm discribed her as a bitch, but it seems like Hawk doesn't know what the hell he wants and keeps stringing her along. This was a hot and sexy prelude to the rest of the story if Hawk and Layla. Hot damn Hawk is sexy. Mmm... View all my reviews
