Gotham "Pilot"

So FOX decided "Hey guys I think it's time for us to jump on the Superhero bandwagon too" So they started out with this one. Gotham is a DC Comic show that takes us WAY back to the beginning of how it all started. Before there was Batman, Catwoman, Riddler and Poison Ivy. Hey even Penguin started from somewhere. It's a continuation of where you see Bruce losing his parents on that same night instead of bouncing 30 years to when he became Batman. It focuses on the one and only expressionless, favorite Commissioner, Jim Gordon played by Ben McKenzie. We get to see the origins of the cop with good morals and the beginning of his blossoming friendship with Bruce Wayne. We get to see how all the villains stories just intertwined with Bruce's that night his parents were shot. That basically was the catalyst that lead to all these events. And yay, Selena was there when everything happened. Penguin started out as a foot boy and lackey for Fish Mooney played by Jada Pinket-Smith, Ivy was a scared looking girl, with a dirt bag for a father, which Bullock killed by the way framing him for the murder of Bruce's parents,  living in a ratty old apartment with plants and Eugene was your everyday ME having a fun time spewing out riddles whenever he got the chance.
Verdict: It was a pretty good start to a fun series. It had a good mixture of funny and action. I love the premise of the show. Ben McKenzie nailed those stoic facial expressions of the Commissioner. It was dark and dangerous and visually stunning. It started out slow at first for me but by the 10 minute mark I was into it. I enjoyed seeing Jada as a bad ass. It reminded me of her Shaft days in all that leather. It was refreshing to see a Batman show that doesn't revolve around Batman alone. We get to follow the journey on how good become evil and vice versa. This seems like it's going to be an interesting ride plus it was fun just yelling out all the young-in villains when they appeared. Here's to a long number of seasons for FOX.
