The Mysteries of Laura
I'm really digging this show. Two episodes in already and I love the hilarity that is Debra Messing. I loved her from Will & Grace. If her old TV casts can make a cameo on this show I will be set for life. So when I first started hearing about this show, I figured it would be another dumb cop show that would get stale fast. Was I wrong about that. It's this fun cop show about a Detective solving crimes who also moonlights as a Mom, with her soon to be ex-husband who at the end of episode one, became her boss. She has these twins that were made from the pit of hell. They give her SO much trouble and she has to juggle between looking after them and taking down the bad guys.
We also get Laz Alonso who plays her partner Billy. Mmmm, I missed him on TV, he's still so fine!!! Anyways, Josh Dallas (Sweet Home Alabama) plays the husband/boss, Jake, and he still seems to have feelings for her while Laura is hell bent on getting away from him,but you can still see she still has some sort of love for him. She has this assistant name Max and I LOVE him. He's so quirky and bitchy. Luna from True Blood is also in here (forgot her real name) and they are co-workers/ frenemies/ Luna trying to out shine her at every given second but FAILS! In the beginning of the first episode Veronica Mar's Dad (I swear I only know most celebs by the characters they play instead of their real name) was her boss but he turned out to be a bad guy and was sent off to jail.
I love how the cases are NEVER boring and Debra just pulls off the comedy like a gem. She has the best one liners that has me laughing out loud. It has a great balance of seriousness and humor. I mean who else has a show that a man confessed to the cops he stuck a firecracker up a squirrel's ass and blew it up because he saw it on YouTube? I think it also has a solid cast with a bunch of likable characters. This can be a keeper for NBC but knowing these networks, they tend to cancel all the good shows and keep the dumb ass reality shows. Hears to this show sticking around for a few long seasons.
